Isaac Newton was a genius born on Christmas day in 1642. He was born premature and was expected to live. He not only lived but became one of the world's greatest thinker, experimenter, mathematician and theologian. His greatest work, Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, is still studied today.
Isaac Newton by Mitch Stokes was a wonderful, insightful book to read. It was interesting to find out that Newton didn't discover gravity by having an apple actually falling on his head but rather he was thinking of gravitation while sitting under some apple trees when an apple fell. It was also fascinating to read about how Newton made his various discoveries and why he did them.
In everything Issac Newton did, he did it to glorify God. All of his studies, experiments, the hundreds of papers he wrote, he did so he could know God and "give him honor & glory." His religion wasn't a dry intellectual theory but a living, heartfelt relationship with his Creator and he wanted to discover everything he could about nature and science in order to glorify God.
This is a great book for anyone to read who would like to know more about this amazing man.

Killer Headline by Debby Giusti
Killer Headline by Debby Giusti
This book is about a young female journalist named Violet Kramer who is trying to become an ace reporter in a small town in Montana. She found out a couple of women in the Witness Protection program has ended up dead and is determined to discover why. This endeavor lands her in the midst of an investigation that involves the FBI, the mob and a undercover cop by the name of Clay West.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The suspense was so good that I had a hard time putting the book down to go to bed. Violet and Clay's interaction with each other set the tone of the book. Their individual backgrounds were just enough to explain why they acted and reacted in the manner they did. The romance in the book was perfect. But I have to say, the suspense was the best. I really like a good suspense story and this is definitely one of the best ones that I have read in a while. Kudos to Debby Giusti, another great book.

Groom in Training written by Gail Gaymer Martin
Groom In Training written by Gail Gaymer Martin
Steph, who is a widow and dog owner, meets Nick who is single and takes care of his brother's dog. Nick runs his fledgling business and is getting over a broken engagement, so he doesn't have time for a relationship nor does he want one. So he thinks. Steph is still healing from her husbands' death and is busy with her own job. She isn't ready for a relationship either.
This is a good romantic story. I liked that the main characters are a bit older, closer to my own age. It made it easier for me to relate to them, especially Steph. I found it easy to follow the storyline. The plot was nice and strong. The characters deal with real issues associated with the death of a spouse and a broken engagement. Steph and Nick both learn how to walk in their faith even better by helping each other. And I was encouraged in my own walk by being reminded that no matter what, God loves me. I would recommend this book to any one who is looking for a good romantic book that will encourage and build their faith.

MY DEADLY VALENTINE by Valerie Hansen and Lynette Eason
My Deadly Valentine is a combination of two novellas under one cover. The authors, Valerie Hansen and Lynette Eason, have taken the subject of Valentine's Day and created two inspirational romances that are filled with suspense. Their main characters struggle with faith, love and danger. The endings of each novella are a surprise.
The first novella, Dangerous Admirer written by Valerie Hansen is a great story of a young woman named Rachel who is being stalked. She has to turn to someone she really doesn't know, Jace, for help because her over-bearing father would make things even more difficult. I thought this story was well written and since I enjoy suspense, the plot was well done. I liked that I wasn't able to determine who the bad guy was and/or why.
The second novella, Dark Obsession by Lynette Eason is another great story. This one is centered around a young woman named Holly. Someone is doing their best to scare her and she doesn't know why. Her high-school sweetheart, Eli shows up and begins to help her unravel what is going on. They begin to renew their past relationship and that makes Holly's old boyfriend a little crazy. The suspense in this story is also great and difficult to figure out what is going on.
The fact that both of these stories are romances isn't lost. Both authors do a wonderful job in keeping the romantic part of their stories refreshingly clean and pure; using Christian values. The beliefs of the characters come through the stories and encourage the reader to strengthen their own faith. This is definitely a book that I would recommend to my friends and family.
